Our C.A.S.H framework deep dive series continues this week with a closer look at why Staying the Course is the third step to sustaining a budget over the long term. I share why I recommend tracking your income and expenses daily (or as close as you can), and share some ways to stay motivated:

Food for thought: Money mindset shift

WHY is your WHY so important? To put it frankly, it is the North Star that guides you. When days get topsy-turvy, or life throws you a curveball, revisiting your WHY refocuses you on what you want. It inspires you to keep going, to dust off thoughts of throwing in the towel. Yes, I'm talking about your financial goals (paying off debt, saving for a trip, or working towards a big purchase, just for example), but having a clear reason for why you're doing it--and revisiting it often-- is a strategy that you can use in all areas of your life. When you revisit your why, think about:

• What will become easier in your life once you've achieved it
• What other opportunities can open up to you once you have your Why
• How it will feel when you've accomplished your why
• What lessons working towards your Why has taught you, and how you can carry those lessons forward
• Who else in your life will be positively impacted by your Why

I am beyond excited that the message of simple, sustainable, and fun budgeting and money management is resonating with so many.
